A brief history of………. The Old Boys……

Old Southendian Football Club is affiliated to the Old Southendian Association (OSA), an association of former students (male and female) and past or present staff members of Southend High School for Boys, whose membership is in excess of 2,400.

The Football Club was founded in 1900, initially as 'The Old Techs' and subsequently as Old Southendian FC. We became a founder member of the Southend Borough Football Combination in the 1921-22 season and a founder member of the Southend Sunday Football League in 1964-5 season. Our first Veterans team was formed in 1994. The Club currently runs one team in the Olympian League, three teams in the Southend Borough Football Combination and two in the Southend Borough Combination Veterans League.

Over the decades the Club has had a fair share of success in local league and cup competitions, regularly being in contention and winning the various league and cup titles available to the team. In County competitions the Veterans led the way, winning the Essex Sunday Veterans Cup in 2008, their first year of entry and this was followed in 2009 – 2010 when the 1st Team won the Essex Junior Cup, having last reached the quarter finals of the Essex Junior Cup as long ago as 1947-48!

The Club enjoys the support of many ex-players and indeed we have several players who have regularly turned out for the club over many years, with our oldest player Mick Nash (incidentally also our Club Secretary), stretching his appearances over 7 decades and he is still going strong, scoring an equaliser for the VETS in a pre-season friendly only last season.

OSFC is committed to moving onward and upward and our next 5 year plan includes getting our 2nd Team into the Olympian League. We are embarking on a refurbishment of our facilities to ensure we are properly able to meet the challenges, not least by being properly equipped. We plan to revamp the changing rooms, showers and toilet facilities downstairs first and then hopefully move on to a refurbishment of the bar.
